DESCRIPTION
Guided visit of Sternatia, a Greek town whose subsoil full of tunnels, tells the story of this place where the main economic activity of the area was the cultivation of olives and the production of olive oil, especially for lamps.
Continue to Soleto, visit the fourteenth-century Church of Santo Stefano. An emblematic place that represents the perfect fusion between East and West, between Byzantium and Rome, between culture and culture.
At the end of the guided tour, departure for a visit to a nearby Masseria surrounded by 100 hectares of vineyards and olive groves. We will guide you through the history of oil by visiting the 700 ‘underground oil mill among the greatest in Salento and into the underground barrel room, the cathedral of wine, where you will be inebriated by the sents of wines. Here we made the tasting of n. 04 wines produced by the winery, accompanied by Apulian Slow food Products.
We conclude the guided tour with the city of Cutrofiano which today represents the most important ceramic production center in Salento. Even today the processing of terracotta and pottery made by local artisans (named “ficuli”) is flourishing.
